How it began
Our Story
Puzzle Murphy™ started in our garage in Orrington, Maine.
As a family who loves jigsaw puzzles – especially during cold wintry months – we were looking for an alternative surface area to our dining room table, which was prone to spills, lost pieces thanks to curious feline companions, and the inevitable "it's time for dinner, pick that up!" request from our matriarch.
After some hand sketches, founder David Branch took to his makeshift workshop, spending countless hours developing the very first Puzzle Murphy prototype.

A Family Project
What began as one father's solution to a common household frustration has become a collaboration between father and daughter to bring that idea to other puzzle lovers. David continues to refine each prototype in his workshop, while his daughter, Madeline, leads product development, branding, and the effort to bring Puzzle Murphy to market.
Together, we're combining craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and a shared love of puzzles to create something we hope families everywhere will enjoy.
More Than a Puzzle Table
Puzzle Murphy is more than a puzzle table – it's a way to make room for what matters.
After David's wife and Madeline's mom, Fran, passed away from triple-negative metastatic breast cancer, the project took on a new purpose. Today, a portion of every Puzzle Murphy purchase supports metastatic breast cancer research, a field that receives less than 10% of breast cancer research funding.
Our logo, adapted from an original design by David's son, Paul, incorporates the teal, blue, and pink colors of the metastatic breast cancer ribbon in honor of that mission.
Our Mission
Our mission is to make puzzling more practical – and therefore more enjoyable – by helping it fit naturally into everyday life.
We believe hobbies shouldn't compete with daily living. Puzzle Murphy creates space for creativity, connection, and quiet moments, while supporting the search for better treatments for metastatic breast cancer.
